This is ridiculous. 27!! And I didn't even include the two boats.


2000 BMW 540i/6 What a sweet car. The 6sp has a shorter final drive than the automatics, along with the sports package (seats, steering wheel, suspension, wheels). A real 4 door sports car.

1997 BMW 540i black/black Got this to replace the 911 and the Landcruiser. Nice car but the 911 was a lot more fun to drive.

2002 Honda 954RR red/black Because the 600 just wasn't fast enough. Now I know there actually is such thing as "too much horsepower"

1988 Toyota Landcruiser FJ62 Thought this was going to be great but I hated it. 10 mpg and 0-60 in 15 minutes. Not a good combo. Sold it 3 weeks later.

2002 Honda CBR600F4i Silver/red Welcome back to motorcycling. First bike I've taken on the track. Serious fun.

1990 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon black/black eBay special $2200. Needed a snow car so I didn't have to drive the 911 in salt/snow in MN.

1978 911SC brown/black Bullseye was a rehab from being a complete basketcase. Ended up a really nice car. Wish I still had it but it wasn't good for carting around the boys.

2003 Honda Odyssey minivan Family truckster. Actually probably one of the nicest cars we've had. The right tool for the job.

1998 Audi A4 Avant green/tan Nice car. Lowered it, set of BBSs, chip, exhaust.

1998 Subaru Outback wagon One of only two cars we've ever bought new. Wife's car. Surprisingly nice. Amazingly good in snow.

1988 BMW 535is red/black This may be my favorite car I've ever owned- had a stroker motor (stroked to 4.0L), nice suspension, Alpinas. Really fun to drive but practical too.

1978 Porsche 911SC Blue/ tan tartan interior Only owned this for a month before I realized the 3.6 engine swap was going to be wayyyy too expensive.

1997 Volvo V70 Wagon Gray/gray Wife's car. Tried using this to avoid getting the minivan. Worked until we had the third boy.

1978 911SC Race Car. Orange/black The Great Pumpkin. Actually won a bunch of races with this one.

1984 Volkwagen Rabbit Convertible black/black This was Molly's first car. We rehabilitated it after getting it back from her little sister. Needed paint, bumpers, suspension, motor (replaced with a 16v out of a Passat). The car is a lot more fun to drive with twice its original horsepower....

1990 Volkswagen Golf 4dr silver/black Actually fairly fun car. Especialy after driving the Blazer for 5 years.

1988 Toyota Camry black/gray Wife's car. Bought this when we moved to Minneapolis from Seattle. She could only drive the 911 3 months a year so had to get this. Bummer.

1983 Porsche 911SC cab white/black Wife's car. Serious fun after a few tweaks. Father in law still has it.

1990 Honda CBR600F2 White/red/blue Had a matching helmet and jacket too. Friends called me "Captain Amazing".

1982 Chevrolet Blazer black/silver/black Tow vehicle. Horrible to drive, horrible mileage, stranded me in some of the most dangerous places in North America (Gary Indiana, South Bend IN, South Side of Chicago). I still loved it though.

1985 Toyota pickup 4x4 red/tan Bought this when it became too annoying driving a ridiculously loud race car with a cage and decals to work

1978 Porsche 911SC yellow/black This car started the racing obsession. Became a race car, raced all over the West Coast and Midwest.

1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R black/black Total sleeper. Took this car on my first track day and got hooked.

1986 Toyota 4x4 pickup, red/tan Truly excellent vehicle- great in the snow in MN and Vermont, spent lots of time on the Beach on Cape Cod

1985 Honda Nighthawk 450 (motorcycle) First bike. Only dumped it once (there is a God)

1984 Honda CRX, white/gray Really fun to drive, especially after the headers went on.

1977 Toyota Celica GT. Green, tan interior. "Gumby" First car. Green. Rusty. Underpowered. A Serious Chick Magnet.

We just returned from a fantastic trip back to the East coast. Molly & the boys spent 2 weeks in Cape May NJ then I joined them for 6 days, and then we piled into the rental car and took a little roadtrip up to see Mom in Chatham (on Cape Cod), where we spent 4 more days. Weather was excellent, beaches were incredible. It was one of those vacations where the toughest decision you need to make is whether to have a Bud light or a Miller Lite as you watch the sunset from the beach. Pics to follow.....

New car!

So I just bought a new (to me) car. Vehicle Number 27. I had a 1997 BMW 540i, which had a few issues that, being a BMW, were going to be very expensive to fix. I elected instead to sell it and get... another BMW. The new one is a 2000 540i/6, which means it is the 5 series with the 4.4L V8 engine and a 6 speed transmission. All of the 6 speeds come with the sport package, so it has that too- a sport suspension (lower/stiffer/ better handling), sport steering wheel and sport seats. It has 92K on it but looks almost new. Of course it had the broken cupholder (notorious on the "e39" body style) and the CD player didn't work. Within 12 hours of receiving the car (shipped up from Portland- only $100 shipping!), I replaced the cupholders and managed to fix the CD player by taking it apart and locating a broken piece that was causing the magazine to jam. So now the car is good as new. Good fun! I'll post pics soon....

Florida

What a week! The family travelled to Vero Beach (aka "Zero" Beach) for Winter Break last week. Molly's parents had invited us to enjoy their February rental with them; who are we to refuse? We spent the days on the beach making sand castles and the nights playing games, watching movies or going out for fantastic seafood.
